News
A few weeks ago (the 5th of March 2008) we received the following letter from Bern
Dear Mr. President, dear Ron
Dear friends,
On behalf of the board of the Swiss Two-Days
March I am happy to transmit the decision of the Board, that the Swiss
Two-Days-March will be Member of IML again. We hope, that it will be
possible to be member for the march 2008. We know, that it is very late
to announce that decision still for this year. Unfortunately the new
Board and the organization have had a lot of troubles to organize this
walk again. We can promise you, that the organization will be the same
as before, for the moment on a lower level but with the needed IML
standards.
The events are planned as follows:
- 2008 17. /18. May 2008
- 2009 16. /17. May 2009 50th March
- 2010 15. /16. May 2010
In between we are very pleased when all the mails, mail and information’s are addressed to:
Mr. Juerg Gmuer
Honorary Member IML
All the details you can find on the new website: www.2tm.ch
We hope, Mr. President, dear friends, that
Switzerland can go on to be a proud member of IML and that it is also a
very good solution for IML itself.
With best regards
Juerg Gmuer
Decision
After an intensive emailing discussion
within the Board about the membership of the Swiss Two-Days March the
board has reached the following decision:
It is a pity that the March is on the same date as the March in Diekirch (Luxemburg) and Dailan (China)..
Nevertheless the board is very pleased to inform you that we welcome your march again as an IML member and a founding member.
International Master walker
That means that the
previous decision on how to become an International Master Walker is
suspended. The walkers have to complete the walks in Austria, Belgium,
Denmark, Ireland, Japan, Luxemburg, Switzerland and the Netherlands in
order to obtain the International Master Walker Award.

EO Pederson In Memoriam
Dear
members of the IML, dear walking friends,

It
made me sad to receive the message that our good friend, Eiler Otto
Pedersen (EO), died yesterday on the age of 74.
In
1986 he was the representative of Denmark in Papendaal, where the
first talks took place about a co-operation between multi days
walking events, spread all over the world.
And
so EO was, as one of the founding fathers of IML, present on the
founders meeting in the Nippon Centre in Tokyo on 29th
of October 1987. During
nine years he was Vice-president for the European region.
A couple
of years ago, being in a bad health condition already, EO accepted
the presidency of the IML in order to solve a continuity problem
within the Board of the IML
.
Although
he did everything what was possible for him given the circumstances.
Always he would be amongst his IML friends, his walkers in Denmark,
Europe and the world. So the last year, when he was very ill, he was
in Blankenberge and participated at the general meeting in Arenzano.
He
was a real ambassador of the walking sport and IML and an important
force behind the Haervejsmarchen in Denmark.
We
will miss him and remember him as a good friend and a advocate of
walking, especially IML Walking Association and of course we will
meet him again.
